Consultant and Trainer
Monica Maccaferri graduated with a BSc in Politics and Administration Science in 1996 and a Diploma as an Emergency Counsellor in 2011. She has been working at Bologna Airport since 1992, and she is currently the Operations Manager Office Staff Coordinator. She is also Chief of the Emergency Care Team for family assistance, which operates in the event of an air crash. In this field Monica provides crisis management and crisis communication training for airport employees, handlers, and airlines, also organizing joint workshops with air crash victims, healthcare services, civil protection, and airline pilots to spread a culture of family assistance and care, with the aim of increasing the effectiveness of aftercare. She took part in the EU-funded research project ‘Darwin’ under the Horizon 2020 research programme, aimed at developing resilience management guidelines, and also contributed to developing and implementing a pilot trial to test guidelines in Air Traffic Management. She is a member of the Technical Task Force of the 8th October Foundation, a nonprofit organization founded in 2004 by the association of the victims of the Linate air crash which occurred in 2001. She is a regular speaker at national conferences and seminars, where she shares her knowledge.
